There does seem to be a big difference in what the doctor's personal preferences are, some use wires, screws or pins, some put patients in cast, and some in walking casts/shoes. I broke my foot (yes same foot as bunionectomy) last fall and wore a boot cast for about 6 weeksish and I swear that bone never healed right!!!
