Flat foot surgery

... I got my boot off Thursday morning! Bought a new pair of shoes that night. Spent 45 mins on the treadmill Friday morning and then went grocery shopping after work. My puppies were tired but I did it. I wouldn't call it pain but felt like my foot/heal was in a vice grip. All good come Saturday morning. It got LOTS of legs workouts to do to try and build up these muscles. Dec 1... (54 replies)
... Hi Dbiggs, I broke my left heel 17 weeks ago from a fall from 6 feet. I didn't need surgery as you did because it was "non-displaced." Your case is definitely more complex and severe than mine but my observation is that the pain relievers you are taking (Gabapentin and Tramadol) are not very strong and are also not anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDs. I have seen mention on this... (16 replies)

... Hi All, I just got a Brostrom done about 5 weeks ago, suppose to start PT next week. I posted about this a while back, but finally got it done. The surgeon mentioned that the source of my discomfort and pain pre-surgery might have also been caused by a bone spurt, which he shaved off during the Brostrom. So far, recovery really sucks. I still feel small scale pain, at... (5 replies)

Jones Fracture????
Oct 28, 2018
... This may sound crazy, but I injured my foot and have no idea how. It suddenly just started bothering me a week ago. The pain is on the outside of my right foot. There is a bump there, and is sensitive to touch. I cannot tell if it is bruised, because I have varicose veins in that area. I wake up not in pain, but by the end of the day it hurts. I try walking with me foot... (0 replies)
... Just want to give you folks an update, if anyone is curious to know how it's like post-op from the Brostrom. I am on week 7, I am now partial weight bearing with the aircast boot and started physical therapy. Things are much better, I begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The thing is with an ankle surgery, it's the most painful postop of all types of... (5 replies)
... Hi Dbiggs, I crushed both heels just over two years ago and needed ORIF surgery for both. I also have a plate with 7-8 screws in each. I am almost 32 and pretty active which I think helped me get back to where I am at. It sounds like a lot of your pain may be from swelling which icing and elevation would help with. Is your foot swollen? Does the pain seem related to... (16 replies)
... Tj, Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you had quite the extensive surgery as well. Icing helps on the swelling but not the discomfort, same for the most part when it comes to elevating. X-ray looked like the healing was progressing nicely 2 weeks ago.. I have another appointment and new images possibly this Monday. Iíve been home for roughly 2 months, move around... (16 replies)
... Hello, Iím on my 5th week post operation after having calcaneal fracture surgery and having a plate and 11 screws put in. Each day I deal with tightness and a scraping heat (best way I can describe the feeling is if you had raw chapped skin and tried to stretch it out, like a scratch on a sunburn) This + the random electrical shooting pains have had me sleeping only a... ... Hey dsheree. Wow, canít help but be impressed with your back to work status:) I donít think that I could have gone to work so early, even with help! How blessed are you to have the awesome help from your friends and family to get back in the work mode. Nerve involvement- it so sucks! Sounds like your left foot is still fighting the battle...but remember dsheree- time is your... (6 replies)

... you might try to get up without putting it on first. I very rarely get up at night, so I wasn't too concerned about that. I didn't sleep with it from the first night I got it, I was soo happy to not have the cast anymore. ... (11 replies)
... I would use your pain meds at night. You sound like you need them. I'm going though the same thing right now(I'm not even a full day out yet) and when Ihad the last two the nights were always the worst though Icould manage to sleep..this time I can't. Does your foot ache if not kept stright? Like it you out it on its side(not the one with the cut)? It does get better as... (8 replies)
... ight. The spasms wake me up so that I have to walk them off. To remedy this, I started taking 300 mg of magnesium in the morning and at night. This helped the night spasm problems BUT in yoga class, now I get foot spasms! ... (2 replies)

... Hi there! Thanks for the warning regarding the stitches. I do know it is going to be uncomfortable tomorrow when he takes the stitches out. I have them on both sides of my ankle as well as the front of my foot. He did a lot of nerve work - so I know it will hurt. I am glad you are stitch free and splint free..... I cannot wait to get this thing off! My foot is so hot to... (28 replies)
... I was not on last night, just curious if you had a better night? Me, more of the same. I had my first post-op visit today, I started a new thread earlier with details if you want to read them, I won't re-post them here. I did want to let you know that even though I have had stitches removed before (non of which ever caused any pain), I was unpleasantly surprised by the... (28 replies)
