Hi lib,
It was ME that thought I might have PET because I seemed to have all of the symptoms- i.e. Hearing heartbeat, voice and breathing. Clicking in my ear when I swallow, etc. No Dr. ever said I had it, I was just grasping at straws, like you are doing now. To get an appt with Dr. Poe I found his address and wrote to him. His receptionist called me several weeks later and made the appt. (this was before I knew his number) . he told me that he would want me to have a certain type of CT scan and that could be done the same day across the street from his office. As for referrals, you would have to check with your insurance. I also don’t know how he works his appointments, as I never actually saw him.
I have been feeling good, thanks for asking. I hope you can get some answers on Monday. I will wait till next week to cancel my appointment after I hear from you if you want to try to contact Dr. Poe. Type the words , quoted, just like this in google “Dennis Poe” “boston”. It should be the fifth listing titled “CONTACTS”. Let me know if you still can’t find him and we will try something else.
Good luck to you Monday. I know it is extremely frustrating, but hang in there, someone will be able to help you!
Best Wishes,
Doug
hi,
i found it and it did list a phone number. funny how that is what you thought you had and it turned out to be something different. sad we have to search our selves for answers. my appt last wed was a big dissapointment, the dr. just pushed me out the door, said i needed something for anxiety. i have 2 appts on mon, one with another local ent and one with a ent at georgetown university hosp. what do i do if they push me out the door also. do you have any symptoms left or are you free of it all now? did you have the moving ear drums and popping and crackling? i have it in both ears and i am so desparate for answers and help. i have never been a depressed person but i am in despair at this point. i am happy to hear you are better doug, i want to be right behind you so bad. thanks for being there. lib

Anxiety?? well of course. You're being tortured day and night. Anxiety doesnt cause ear problems, but ear problems certainly cause anxiety. I was on xanax and effexor all summer and really thought i was going to lose it permenantly. I am well off the xanax now and almost the effexor. amazing how the anxiety and depression went away as soon as the ear problem was fixed. I am about 90%. only some minor clicking when i swallow and slight feeling of fullness, but nothing like it was before, thank God. I had popping and crackling and every other kind of noise going all at the same time at one black point in time.
Georgetown U. sounds like a good bet. Im sure they have some of the best. I finally got fixed at Jefforson U. in Phila. I think the big university hospitals have some of the best docs. I know it does't seem like it, it didn't to me, but one day you will wake up and this will all be just an unpleasant memory. hope that day is soon!
