I ocasionally experience the high-pitched tone thing, exactly as you have described it, but there is nothing associated with it: no popping or changes in hearing. It just comes on, builds, declines, and goes away. I've never asked an Otologist about it.

Is the popping experience relieved by inflating your ears, or (the opposite) by swallowing with your nose pinched? If so, it's probably an eustacian tube effect.

What does it mean if symptoms are relieved by inflating the ears. I have a hearing distortion and autophony that is relieved when I inflate my ears.
