Hearing Disorders Message Board

Hearing Disorders Board Index

To IMeeRP - Aimee:
Hello Aimee:
I am sorry to tell you that I did not have good luck with the tubes. They had to be removed 3 months after they were put in. I had an allergic reaction and other problems to other parts of my body as a result of the tubes. One of the tubes was pressing on a nerve causing me horrendous other issues with my health. I will tell you this - the tubes will help you on an airplane - you won't feel anything with your Eustachean tubes and no pressure will build up. That is the only thing the tubes will do, but since I suffered more with them than without, I opted to have them removed. I still suffer - I don't fly and do not go into high elevation. I remain on the ground and sometimes feel like a prisoner. My ears constantly snap, crackle, and pop mostly in my left ear and at times, very loud. I have been suffering with this for 9 years and don't believe there is a cure. I have just learned to live with it. I go on with my life - it does not stop me from doing anything except going in airplanes and into the mountains. I still function normally otherwise. It is just very annoying and I have to learn to tune it out. That is one reason why I don't read the message board often becuase it calls attention to my problem and then it feels worse.

Have you had any luck with your problem?
Karen
