I recently had a stapedectomy on my right ear on 01/13/15. I had all the normal post op experiences that others have mentioned. I did not think I was hearing much at all but listened to phone on day 3 and was shocked that I could faintly hear person talking. However, on day 4 all went quiet and has remained that way to date. I'm not experiencing a plugged feeling but more of an "OFF" sensation such as when you answer a land line phone and it's not connected to the jack in the wall (OPEN). No pain, pressure, drainage, popping, distortion. I went in for testing a couple days ago to make sure neurosensory hearing was OK. Checked out fine. The packing will remain for 2 more weeks. Has anyone else experienced this feeling that the ear had turned off in lieu of the normally described PLUGGED feeling? I was expecting the hearing to come and go, often hearing muffled noises, unable to distinguish words, etc. But what I have is constant quietness, no variation.
