Wake up deaf

... hat I have 2 symptoms that do not match Meniere's. !st, When my hearing is bad I usually wake up deaf and gain a small amount of hearing during the day, until I fall asleep, even if I fall asleep setting up. 2nd, Twice I have went into the Pacific Ocean during winter and had my hearing return at least in one ear. ... ... I always sleep with a fan on now but when this started I needed prescription drugs to help me sleep. When this first started my depression and anxiety prevented me from sleeping no more than 2 hours a night. This went on for over 4 months then I just simply ran out of gas. I ended up in the hospital and was finally given Xanax to help me get the sleep that I needed. Was off... (7 replies)

... Have you also seen a neurotologist (inner ear specialist?) and an oral surgeon (tmg/infections etc)? While you wait, if you have not already you may want to try a low sodium (you have to read labels not just give up the salt shaker) diet, give up caffeine, watch the affect of drugs like asperin for the tinnitus.
