... Hi Hope you're hearing's improving. Did your ENT tell you the reason for the steriod medication? I'm guessing it's for swelling, I was re-admitted to hospital & had intravenous steroids in an attempt to reduce my swelling post-stapedectomy. I think steroids generally do help reduce the swelling but one of the side affects I had from them was an increase in the tinnitis... (41 replies)

... If my Dr. prescribed antibiotics for 7 days, I would take them for seven days. Although I didn't have a stapedectomy, I had a benign tumor removed and 2 of the middle ear ossicles were taken out ...the malleus and incus because of the destruction from the tumor. ... h I guess its a nerve it feels like someone is pulling my hair on top of my head. Nurse said its from a probe thing that put there or something that beeps during surgery if the doctor gets close to a nerve. Taste buds still off tounge feels more sensivite now and less numb. ... (2 replies)
