... e really good at the crimping process and aren't worried about your prosthesis coming loose from simple things like driving or walking. Those that tend to do the stapedectomy surgery less often might tell you to take it easier for longer time periods. ... (27 replies)
... but I think this is still considered to be a pretty good result. Some stapedectomy patients also report that it can take a long time for high frequency sensitivity to return. In some case, it can take months. ... (20 replies)

... I had a stapedectomy on June 20,2011 here in England, and I can certainly tell that sound is like it used to be before I had a hearing loss due to Otoscelorosis. ... (39 replies)
... Hello, all. I had my Stapedectomy performed 12/22/14. I was very dizzy and had very bad vertigo for about two and a half days after the surgery but had really no pain at all from the surgery (took Tylenol a couple of times for a little bit of an achy feeling). I am now 14 days post op and I have noticed an increase in bass sounds. All other sounds are very faint (less so... (27 replies)
... I am surprised your doctor hasn't talked with you about this already. My doctor was (alarmingly) clear about NOT MOVING for 7 days (until the first follow up) as that is the time when you are most likely to cause yourself damage. I was told in no uncertain terms that someone would have to take care of me full time for the first week in order to speed recovery. My husband... (27 replies)
... ith RobTN. I needed a good seven days to completely feel normal again, mostly due to the general anesthesia. I think that going on a retreat three days after a stapedectomy is not a good idea. ... (27 replies)

... Hello guys! Im on the day 20 after Stapedectomy. My package was taken out 3 days ago and my ear was vacumed as well. I still have the feeling of having something inside my ear or the feeling that my ear is blocked. I can hear but not so much better than before the op. I could say just a little bit better than before. I saw you wrote that it should be better after 7-10 days... (27 replies)
... I had that pop too. And then suddenly things got pretty loud and clear. I'm 3 days post-op and am hoping for some good results on this ear as well. :) (27 replies)
... It's perfectly normal. There are blood clots in your middle ear next to your eardrum from the surgery, plus other bodily fluids. Your hearing is fluctuating as these clots and fluids go up and down. Once everything dries up (usually 7-10 days), the sound waves will begin to be transmitted normally to the ossicles bones and your stapes prosthetic. I heard a clear "pop" in... (27 replies)
... uch is in your ear. Different surgeons use different procedures, different materials etc so that makes it really hard to compare experiences. Alot of people dont report improvements until the 2nd or 3rd week. It varies, just try to be patient and dont get discouraged. ... (13 replies)
... Hello, I'm new here, and practically crying for information. My stapedectomy was on the left ear February 27, so I'm 9 days post-op now. My hospital visit was similar to what many others report: Better hearing in the OR and recovery, but much diminished the next day, due to swelling I guess. I had pretty bad vertigo on the third morning along with some nausea, but the... (6 replies)

... Hi Everyone, I had a stapedectomy done on 09/13/09 on my left ear. I was under general anesthesia and the surgery was a success. I had no major issues after the surgery. I had a problem with my taste for a few days. I have not had any other side effects, no major pain to report. I did not even have to take the prescribed pain medication. I didn't see much of a difference in... (6 replies)
... I'm about 15 hours into my recovery after my stapedectomy and I wanted to share my experience. First off, my surgeon Dr. Luxford at House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles was amazing. ... (23 replies)
... In 1987 I had my first Stapedectomy (Lft) and then my other ear a few years ago. I have the hospital report on the first op and I have details on the implant and I believe it was Stainless steel (McGee). I think the second one was Titanium as it was done in 2004. Problem: I have significant back problems now and nobody wants to do an MRI so I'm left with only CT/Myelogram's... (0 replies)
... t better again. I notice the drum beats more if I lie flat at night, so I try to sleep propped up on three pillows. I have a hearing test in ten days, and will report more after that. ... (27 replies)
... Thanks again, Nickle and congrats on your results so far. I have had excellent results too and just don't want to do anything to jeopardize my hearing. I wonder what happened with Sanguine who writes on here. I think he was about 4 months out from surgery and yet he lost his hearing after flying. (maybe the fistula you talked about?) Anyway, that is what scared me. In many... (18 replies)
