... Iam 27 years old. Recently, I have been diagnosed with Ostoclerosis on both ears. I have a loss of 40 DB. I can hear conversation, but its been tough during business meetings, and any private conversation! ... Hi everyone, First of all, boy am I glad I found this board after days of googling!!! I'm 23 years old and have suffered hearing loss in both ears since I was 19. The loss was so gradual that I finally noticed its impact when I realised I couldn't catch clearly what my lecturer was saying in class. I can no longer hear someone if he/she doesn't face me when speaking and... (352 replies)
... Hello Everyone! I totally agree that founding this message board is the best! Especially since I'm the only one in my immediate circle that's had a stapedectomy. I really enjoy reading all your updates! Since Friday everything has just changed and I've been driving my husband crazy the whole weekend. I keep on closing my un-operated ear and ask him:"say something,say... (352 replies)

... Hi All, Zip2play was banned. For what I don't know - he had over 5000 posts. You couldn't find the info because he had misspelled "stapedectomy", he put "stapedectoRmy". (Again, praise to the bf from me - he found the info from zip, not me). I'm still having ringing in the ear off and on. I can barely hear it, but it's there. Like Andy, when I take out the cotton... ... All I can say is "HOLY COW"! I had heard and read that when your hearing returns, it kinda drives you nuts at first. Boy O boy is that true! I drove today for the first time. ... Hi Andy, I'm glad your recovery seems to be going well. Up, around and driving on day 4, that is awesome!! And hearing anything at this point, even if it sounds like a strange stereo is great. Are you having any trouble being back at work? Was/is your sense of taste affected? (352 replies)
... Hey Andy, I'm just a couple weeks behind you. I'm having my stapedectomy on January 16th, 2007 and i'm scared::dizzy: . Waiting this long for surgery (14 years) and... (352 replies)
... I don't know about an MRI, but my surgeon sent me for a CT scan after he suspected otosclerosis. The radiology report said there was no evidence of otosclerosis, but the surgeon called me a few days later and said that he could see the otosclerosis on the scan and recommended that I have bilateral stapedectomies. ... Similar to what I had, the loud sounds will be worrisome for quite awhile. They get better with time but it takes time. Also it took my brain awhile to adjust to the sounds, at first I had difficulty understanding speech but as time went by it greatly improved. Dr "B" is a "rock star!!" Hearing great without HAs after 3 decades with them. (33 replies)

... Good luck with that hole (and the waiting) Soundboy! Did they give any reasons for it by chance? As for my report, it's been 5 weeks since my surgery and for the most part, things are going really well. My main complaint (or whatever you want to call it) is that my right ear (good ear) seems to have some congestion in it and is causing it to NOT pop even though my left... (101 replies)
