... I just had my CO2 Laser Stapedotomy today. My doctor has done hundreds of these operations and said he has never seen what I had. Apparently the sclerotic bone was growing between the legs of the stapes and footplate/oval window was much smaller than normal. :nono: He had to drill away allot of the "mutated" bone to make room for the prosthesis. In otosclerosis the small bones of the middle ear become overgrown with bone and functionless (somewhat like genetic damage from TCS.
