|
I am in Stage 4 Cirrhosis A - taken off Pegysys/Riba after 24 weeks, partial responder, just not enough. While keeping on a positive note and going on in the best way possible, I do need to do something.
There are two clinical trials .... one is Pegysys/Zadaxin/Thymosin/placebo which I was supposed to start but could not due to the wash out period. Now I am eligible for this at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. There is another clinical trial NOT YET started yet at Shands in Gainesville - Intermune/Pegylated Infergen + Riba. Shands keeps telling me November, then it was Dec, now it is February - the last seat for the Mayo Clinic is for me and I've been putting it off, waiting for the Shands one to come thru. I'm just afraid that if I pass up Mayo and Shands does not come thru, I am down the river .....
Just wondering anyone's throughts, information, views etc.
Thanks very much.
I'm not sure what you are asking, exactly.
Are you asking whether to participate in a clinical trial or in what clinical trial, or something else?
I don't know enough about either of these trials. I will only say that, with a stage four, I don't think my choice would be to risk getting a pacebo if I were to continue therapy.
Why were you taken off the therapy? Was it because of an inadequate response or because you are a genotype that treats for only 24 weeks, insurance, or because of severe side effects? What is your genotype?
How much of a response did you realize? Would your doctor agree to continue treatment longer if you tolerated it well?
