Hi Jeannie. Your biopsy report is pretty good in the scheme of things. Fibrosis just means scarring. So cirrhosis is really fibrosis that has spread throughout the liver. When biopsies are staged it is usually Stage 0 - inflammation, no fibrosis, Stage 1 - mild fibrosis, Stage 2 - moderate fibrosis, Stage 3 - bridging fibrosis (the areas of fibrosis are connected) and Stage 4 - Cirrhosis (fibrosis throughout the liver). It usually takes decades to proceed through these stages and most people never get beyond Stage 1, so your chances of staying in relatively good health are excellent, especially if you take care of yourself....eat right, abstain from alcohol, etc.

I had both my girls after I was infected but before I knew I had HCV. They are both negative. The chances are less than 5% of passing it on to your unborn child. That is pretty low....except of course if you are one of the 5%. That is a decision you need to reach with your husband or significant other.

I'm really glad you got this good news and I wish you well.
