A few more tests were done and some appointments with one of the best gastroenterologist in Canada and the final diagnosis was that I have Autoimmune Chronic Active Hepitits. Apparently, this is a life long, hereditary disease and it is not curable. Basically, I have to just fix the problems as they arise. ... (2 replies)

... Hi Amandalee, You have survived the first and largest obstacle in AI, the diagnosis. I am not certain whether many with AI come here, but living with Chronic Hepatitis has many similarities for anyone with a liver disease. Yours sound particularly aggressive, however. ... It doesn't sound like your doctor knows, either. I don't know whether this is a real diagnosis or whether it is a discriptive term your doctor is using. Basically, it means that your liver is unhappy but no cause has been identified. If your doctor gave you only an antibody tests for those viruses, it could mean you are in an acute phase of a viral hepatitis. You would need... (3 replies)

... Hey there. I am taking those same meds. I started taking 40mg a day of the prednisone and 50 mg of the other one (aka imuran). I don't think I can say anything about grief or loss, but I can say that if you wanted to gain any weight at all....prednisone is the drug you want. Just jokin. Biopsy done

... I haven't gone for my biopsy yet, but I am going in January of 2003. I'm a little nervous, but my doctor said that it is pretty much painless. I will keep that in mind to just stay on liquids for that day though.
