Fibrosure
Feb 3, 2005
... As I understand it, Amy, the Fibrosure is quite accurate at the high end (cirrhosis) and the low end (grade 0-1) but there is trouble with accuracy in between. That is pretty much all I know about Fibrosure. I hope it helps, thanbey (1 replies)

Fibrosure Test
Aug 27, 2006
... Hi book, almost no drs. are familiar with it, so it necessarilly is a difficult thing to get them to do. there is some supportive research that it is useful in the same way that a biopsy is--giving infor on actual liver condition/damage. As i'm sure you know the usual hep-related blood tests, the 'liver panel' (ast, etc.) does not reliably predict fibrosis or other... (1 replies)

... How do, DLMD? Here's my completely unqualified, unprofessional, and sincerely ignorant reading of your info: The liver condition indicated here is kind of benign (comparatively speaking, of course--we'd all rather everything was 'normal'), but you probably already realize that. The prothrombin time relates to a common result of hep or other liver problems, namely that... (13 replies)

... As far as the Hep A&B vaccine it depends on who you talk to as to there importance but I think common sense would tell anyone that you don't want to get A or B on top of the Hep C. I had to push my doctor to get them. Think about it ? what does the doctor get out of it ? He / She only gets an office call & has to order the vaccine & it likely ticks off the insurance company... ... Alice very well said & I agree with you 100 %. There are people that need to treat & do it now & that it is there only hope & I feel deeply for those people & admire their courage & strength. But that does not apply to everyone & you are right it would seem that most doctors are assembly line about the way they treat. I have been to 3 & everyone of them was the the same you... (5 replies)

... hi doctorsletmedown "I am not sure what INR is this is what it says:" well, the INR should be around 1.0, say between 0.9 and 1.2, the higher it gets, the more reduced the blood clotting. the reduction in blood clotting may come from medicaments (like aspirin) or from impaired liver function. But as i say, 1.2 is usually in the "healthy people" range in most labs. ... (4 replies)

... Hi Kim, I think a biopsy is valuable. It is also of some (small) risk, and sometimes people have bad reactions (I've had two, and after the first one, I went into a little bit of shock, which neither the docs nor I was ready for nor recognized for a day or more, since bad reactions are spozed to be so rare.
