Knee & Hip Problems Board Index

I had TKR on December 8, 2015. I go to rehab 3 times a week and yesterday bent the knee to 104. That number can change from low of 98 up to 104, but I remember how hard it was to get 90, so I am thankful. I'm having trouble with very cold feet. This happens mostly at night when I go to bed. I wear socks, but nothing seems to help. I am a widow and live alone and get very depressed about my situation--sitting in a chair all day dreading getting up. I now hate showers sitting in that chair. I think my recovery is very slow, but my doctor says it is not. I am 80 years old so I guess that has something to do with it. Sometimes as I sit in my lazyboy, I think I will never recover--if anyone is in my same circumstances (6 weeks post op, 80 years old, depressed), I would love to hear from you. I also have lost my appetite. I can think of foods I would like to eat, but when I get them, I don't want it any longer. I know this is rambling, but please someone--let me know you were as slow to recover as I am. I got a call from a friend yesterday who said he was back at work in 3 weeks. That was depressing!!!!!!
Being alone and depressed is not conducive to recovery.
Have you advised your doctor of your situation? I thought that personal assistants would help at first?
I'm in the same boat and have had to recover virtually alone for several surgeries, it's awful.
My knee doc is now mentioning TKR for my left knee and I'm really shying away from the idea for exactly this reason.
