Well, that sounds a little like what I'm going through right now. The reason I'm on here in the first place. I just had a baby 3 mos ago, my fourth. It was a very difficult pregnancy, I could barely walk towards the end. I had a c-section and as I was getting off the pain meds weeks later, I noticed pain in my hip joint. Where my leg meets my hip. I can barely get in and out of my car, it hurts to change direction while walking. If I try to adjust my sitting position and I move slightly the wrong way, it feels like my leg is being ripped out of the socket. I could very easily let this go on for years as you did, but I wanted to regain my former strength and flexibility. I thought it might be a pinched nerve in my back, as I am still having pain where I recieved my spinal block. So I went to the doc a few weeks ago. She figured out that the pain is coming from my hips and not my back so she ordered an x-ray. X-ray was normal, so she said she wanted me to get an MRI. I got the results today. Bilateral hip joint effusion and I have to see an orthopedic surgeon. I had absoulutly no idea what that meant. I got online and found out that it means excess fluid in the joint. That's just my story. I would suggest going to the doc. I know you could probably go on forever like this, but you'll really be kicking yourself if it clears up fairly quickly after treatment and you can't figure out why you didn't get help sooner!!
I wish you all the best. I'm going to try and find out more info now.
Anna
