I agree with Jenny. I'm at 10 weeks and although it doesn't knock all the time, my operated leg does knock. I was told by both my PT and the doctor that it is all normal and when the swelling goes down completely, it should stop. This could take up to a year.

Good luck!

Went back to see the surgeon on 16/06 and he said i needed another operation to renew the polyethylene insert as a larger one was needed to reduce the gap to stop the knocking. This operation was done the next day and after four days i was allowed home. Again i had a bleed in the knee which poured out through the staples whilst in bed this they stopped but have to go back on 23 06 to try to get the rest of the blood out. I feel as though i am back to square one having to go through all the rehab again, any one else had this or similar problems.
Well its now 8 weeks since my knee revision, have only worked 3 weeks since jan 7th. I am still having physio and hydro and progress seems slow, swelling mainly due to an infection is slowly going down, surgeon said i could go back to work on light duties but the occupational health doctor disagreed, hence at home. My revision was to replace the polyethylene insert this should help stop the knocking and reduce wear, the knocking is now less when i shake my leg from side to side but is really loud when i move my leg up and down, or ride my exercise bike. I am starting to wish that i never had the surgery in the first place but was told there was nothing else they could do[bone on bone],the only good thing is that pain is slight and knee only troubles when it becomes stiff after sitting or sleeping.Have to see the surgeon on 26th august and then take a progress report back to the occupational health doctor, hope then i can get back to work.
