Sounds like a classic case of a torn meniscus. The meniscus is a disk of cartilage that acts like a shock absorber in the knee joint. There are 2, one on each side of the knee joint. The one in the inside aspect of the knee joint is very easily torn. Your symptoms are classic of this injury. You don't have to have any kind of accident to tear it...it can just happen with any movement if it is wearing thin.
