Translation of MRI
Mar 6, 2011
Hello everyone. I'm new to this and never really expected to be here for myself. I'm 24 years old and just had my first baby boy in August. I've been pretty healthy all my life, but it seems after my pregnancy my body just went down hill. I gained a lot of weight and I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I'm also close to being a diabetic. But the reason why I'm here is because of my fall. I injured my knee and just got a MRI. I need help understanding what the doctor is talking about to see how serious this injury really is.

Findings: There is mild knee joint effusion. There is disruption of the medial patella retinaculum and the patella is subluxed laterally. There is laxity of the medial collateral ligament with fluid tracking along the ligament suspicious for a sprain.

Impression: Disruption of the patellar retinaculum with subluxation of the patella laterally. MCL sprain. Mild knee joint effusion.

My knee is really swollen and it hurts to walk. This happened Feb 7, 11 and I still walk with a limp. I got a brace for it, but it doesn't seem to help. I'm not even sure how it happened. I was getting up from the toilet, then all of a sudden I heard this loud popping and crunching sound. It literally sounded like my bones were broken, and I fell on the floor. I was in a lot of pain and to this day I still don't know why this happened. :dizzy: My knee just gave out. If someone could translate the MRI for me and give me any suggestions that would help me out  Anyone else been through this? A lot of people have been telling me I might have to get surgery :(

I am going through the same thing right now too. I just had an MRI done today and I'm extremely nervous. I have a tilted knee cap and they think i dislocated it well I was moving boxes. I'm in extreme pain and barely can walk. I have to also where a knee Immobilizer till the figure out what going on. If u have any questions let me know I have done a lot of research.
