Knee & Hip Problems Message Board

Knee & Hip Problems Board Index

My wife is In her late 60's, plays tennis 3 times per week but really hobbles around. She has a great deal of difficulty keeping up while walking and climbing stairs. She lists heavily to her left side and her posture is poor when walking. She has been diagnosed with a knee problem mostly due to arthritis.

She has tried a custom brace and gave up on it. Has some relief with Cortizone and no help at all from a rooster shot.

She has gone to a good surgeon who said knee replacrement is up to her, plus she has been told she will know when she has to do it. She also has an extremely high tolerance to pain.

Wouldn't the quality of her life be improved if she did something sooner or later. My concern is that she may end up with back or hip or other leg problems if she puts off the surgery.

Any thoughts?
