Ongoing knee pain
Feb 2, 2012
Knee pain started about two months ago. No injury I know of. I had done a lot of walking that day, and in the evening when I was on my feet, I suddenly felt a very intense pain in my left knee, so bad I needed to lie down. Never experienced anything like that before. I rested the knee a few days, it seemed to improve. So I returned to exercising (I frequently do stretching exercises, yoga, etc., but no running). But I was wrong, the problem hadn't gone away. Then I started noticing something new: every time I cross my left leg over my right (so that the left foot is resting on the right knee), there is a clicking sound, accompanied by pain.

The place where I am having pain is the inner right knee, the lower part of the knee, toward the front. There is a whole area there that is sensitive to the touch if I rub it. Pain in that area doesn't seem to be reducing. Unless I directly rub the affected area, I notice the pain typically when crossing my leg, after the clicking sound, as I described above and also sometimes when changing my position in such a way that the knee bends or twists.

From the symptoms I've described here, does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Thanks for your feedback.
