... Hi Izzy Sorry to hear of your problems. You've probably been told this time and time again but you really should have got a check up after your fall. I'm also sorry that money is an issue; we are lucky here in the UK that we don't have to pay to see a doctor. Since your knees are not improving, I am guessing you have caused some damage although without an examination and... (2 replies)
... It seems that many have had MRI on the knee & they came back "everything OK", but the surgeons still operated. Has anyone had a MRI that showed the tear, worn cartlidge, cyst under the knee cap, or any of the stuff they find during the operation? If the MRI is no good in finding joint problems, why do that expensive & sometimes painful procedure? (1 replies)

... Dear Chillytoes, Have you had an arthroscopy of the knee yet? Sometimes that reveals things that the MRI and x-rays do not show. Downside is that it's a procedure in it's own right that would need to heal before proceeding on to the TKR. I'm not sure if surgeons do this with the intent of then proceeding on to the TKR at the same time if their findings are confirmed. Your... (519 replies)

... I can't tell you my symtoms were the same, but I did start having pain that was the result of an injury a year and a half prior. The doctor said it's not unusual for the result of a cartlidge tear to show up 1-2 years after the injury if there was trauma at the time. My pain was more of a deep ache/burning to the area, though. The first 2 surgeries cleaned up the joint and repaired the tear, and I found a 3-5 days after them I was fine and back walking. The latest scope (in... (7 replies)
