One of my other worries is pain control. I have taken opiates and hydro for over 10 years for headaches, fibro, back pain and then the knees. I will discuss this with him on the 25th. I... ... It's not silly. What's silly is thinking you can recover from TKR in a heartbeat. I watched a video online before surgery just to be informed what was going to happen. I know most people would cringe at the thought, but I thought it was important to know what the doctors were going to do. It's not pretty, but it educated me to know this was no drop in the bucket. Second hip surgery

... For hip replacements, regional anesthesia is sometimes used instead of general anesthesia (which as you probably know can result in lung complications - a consideration because of your COPD). Regional anesthesia includes spinals & epidurals. It is also common for either of these to be given with sedation (so you don't remember anything). If you haven't already, I suggest... (4 replies)
... I am having my second hip replacement in a couple of week. I am a 58 year old female and my first hip replacement is 10 years old. I am very nervice this time as I have several other issues: COPD, Diabeties, and high blood pressure. I mostly concerned about the anesthesia (misspelled). Anyone have any experience with the anesthesia? Is it different than a 10 years ago? I... (4 replies)
