... cortisone injections, braces, i had a bilateral release done. that being my only option left. that was in jan 2008. they released the ligament and also shaved my knee caps and cleaned out all the scar tissue that had built up. i healed ok, went back to PT for a few months to build up my muscles again, and went on with life. ... ... ribed is not as rare as you think. It is a subluxing patella which means that your kneecap pops out of place. I had that problem for three years. The popping and crackling that you are having is probably cartilage under your kneecap that is torn. ... (2 replies)
