... The most likely cause is a joint mouse, that is a loose body, perhaps a piece of meniscus or a bit of articular cartilage floating around in the joint. When weight bearing the mouse is most likely pushed away into the folds of the joint and therefore no pain is felt. ... (4 replies)

... Hi Delores, Your xray will almost certainly show some wear and tear at your not so old age if you have it done. Now with loose bodies the pain usually comes on very quickly and goes but not so quickly most likely becaused it has caused irritation in the joint. ... (1 replies)
