... Barb, A CPM (continuous passive motion) device is a machine that moves the joint through its range of motion in a controlled manner. Whether or not they are effective is the subject of quite a few ongoing studies. In my area almost all the highly rated surgeons practicing at one hospital use them while in the hospital across town equally highly rated surgeons rarely order... (39 replies)
