Hey guys,

I chanced upon this forum. Anyway, I had sex with a sex worker on 4th April.

Anyway, I'm not sure of the sex worker's status but she carries a condom around in her bag (it's alright right? as it's not compressed or anything).

Anyway, I performed cunnlingus on her and from what I've read so far my chance is low? (cause HIV is in the fluid at the cervix not the vaginal fluid that occurs when the girl gets aroused or something? ) I just wanna re-assure myself though :X

In addition, *sorry for graphic details* but I sucked her nipples, fingered her and had protected vaginal sex with her. I'm not sure if she put on the condom correctly but I assumed so since she appeared to know what she was doing (i'm just afraid there were some small holes/tearing in the condom). But if it's anything, after the sex, me being paranoid, I went to fill the condom up with water (didn't really wash it) to see if it leaked. The first time there were some drops though I think that was because when I filled it up, some water got splashed on the outside but after patting it dry and filling it up again, there was no leak even as I squeezed near the tip. Does that mean the condom is safe?

Also, after that, I checked my fingers and mouth and found no visible sores/cuts but I'm still worried of contracting it. How likely am I to get it? [Let's assume she is HIV + for worst-case scenario]

Thanks & sorry for the lengthy post

Anyway just 2 - 3 days ago I found that the lymph nodes in my ear (where the ear lobe is) is swollen. I know symptoms are unreliable but just need your view on my chances of getting HIV.

Thanks. Thinking of going for the HIV test soon.

From what you described, No Need for testing but if you do, you will do for peace of mind.
Buddy,

Just to let you know Sex Workers are way more concious of these things than you and me are due to the nature of their condoms. On top of that you did Protected sex which is again NO RISK as far as HIV is concerned.

But I shall advice you to go get tested for other STDs which are far more easier to catch to be safe.

Good Luck!!
Indeed you had no risk of HIV from this. remember they carry condoms to protect themselves from HIV and STD's, so the likley hood is she is HIV negative anyway. All in all, dont worry.
Hi there,

Your chances of getting HIV from this are zero. This really is a no risk situation. I will advise you though to stop your self examination. Prodding your nodes and glands is not advisable and can led to painful swelling, please stop it. If you are concerned about this and you have no reason to be then get checked out.

Actually getting HIV is not a concern for you, over reacting to something like this is. Please do not go down this road.

Kevin
your chances of contracting hiv from what you discribe?
zero
Hey sorry for the late reply was busy with loads of other stuff!

Anyway, Thank you Smiteler, Guyfromnorth, Apollo123 and Blokecalledkev

It really helped put me at ease!

@Blokecalledkev: Thank you for the advice. I sort of realised it but just could not help myself from overreacting regarding the swollen lymph in ears and some rashes on my arm (not many though very few). :)

once again thank you all of you! :)
Hi there,

No problem glad to have been able to help. It is almost an instant thing, I know exactly what you mean and it very easy to start prodding and poking areas of our body when we are worried. Hope everything stopped swelling and less painful now.

Kevin.
Hey guys sorry but found some other worrying signs?

Recently (this week in fact at the 4th week mark), I had this swollen lymph nodes in my ear (although I used to have them before) and flu like illness (only in the morning though).

But those 2 I'm not that worried since it has happened before however earlier this week on 2/5, when I woke up I found that i had these red itchy rash on my left arm (incidentally, I fingered her with my left hand). 1 on my left knuckle and 3 clustered near the elbow joint with about 2 more spread around on the arm.is there a need for concern? Also, i had this small sore/ulcer on my lip and it sort of burst and was later covered by a white pus like layer (but it came off when I was showering) though it doesn't hurt.

I also had watery stools but in the past 4 hours I only went to the bathroom twice. [I think it was due to some spicy food] and last week when I woke up, I had this white layer on my tongue. Is it thrush? Although that layer came off easily and it didn't bleed or anything. That was the first time i saw it.

Incidentally, all of these symptoms started appearing around the 22nd day mark. Is this a cause for concern?
:(

Sorry for the lengthy post :X
Hi there,

No they are not cause for concern, what is cause for concern is that despite being advised to stop yourself examinations you are continuing to do so. HIV is not diagnosed this way, it is not a DIY project that is diagnosed online after reading web site upon website. It is a serious medical condition that is diagnosed through an HIV test. The amount or lack of symptoms you may or may not have will having absolutely no bearing on the outcome of an HIV test, which given your risk should you choose to take one will almost certainly be negative.

Kevin.
Hiya. I know what your thinking and its quite a normal thought to have 2 + 2 but its =5 in this case.

Your symptoms certainly do not seem to mirror ARS in any way or form. also as it was protected sex, their is not a chance that it can be HIV from protected sex. Your not the first or last person to have a concern about a exposure then not long after get ill. We know it can be quite scary and think and think the worse, but honestly buddy your fine.

If you need some peace of mind, then as its 4 week, you could take a HIV duo test and a negative will be 99% conclusive. But you have NO need to test, but like i said, if you need peace of mind then have one and a get a negative test

Hope that helps
Thank you both of you!

I realised I am worrying needlessly and all. Yea I guess I'm going for a checkup tomorrow for peace of mind and will let you guys know the result. Thanks!
No worrys buddy, just dont worry they will be negative :)

Hi there,

Yes please do let us know how you get on. You will be fine.

Kevin.
Hey guys please bear with me just got some final questions (since in my anxiety I forgot to ask the counsellor)

I remembered that when I gave cunnilingus, I had just recovered from a sore throat (took medicine on sunday felt well on monday which was when I gave her cunnilingus)

and I also had an operation on my shoulder in Feb (would this have affected the results in anyway?)

Lastly, went for the rapid test where they inject a lancet into your finger. Got results in 10 mins (quite fast the usual estimated time is 15 - 20) But yea Negative! :D

When I asked if I should come back again at the 3rd month the counsellor said "it's fine, you'll be fine" :)

So yea thanks for all your help these past few days guys!! Really appreciate it!:D
operations,your past/present health
has no bearing on if you get infected or not.
the only thing that matters is
if you had the CHANCE or risk of being infected.

in your case you have no chance of this happening..
your test just confirms what the facts are.
good luck
Thank you Smiteler for everything really! Not only for me but for all the other forum members past and present that you've helped. Yesterday I was reading through some of your posts and it's a great thing that you're doing.

Once again thank you for your advice and help.

Cheers !
Hi there,

No the operation and the sore throat will have zero bearing on the outcome of your test, negative. Buddy, no risk and a negative test. It seems pretty conclusive to me :)

Your last post carried weightage only in the Quoted lines.
Congratulations buddy, we all knew that will be the result but good that you done for the peace of mind and now let it go and move on with your life.
Experts out here have been in the same situation as you were some time and thats why they know what are the risks and what are not?
I am pretty sure you must be feeling bad of loosing beautiful time out of your life worrying about it.
But all is well which ends well buddy!
Sorry guys just got a little freaked out here and need some clarifications:confused:

If I may ask some more questions, is it possible for ARS symptoms to show up 6 weeks and 4 days after the encounter? Prior to this I only had some red bumps (I saw a doctor ytd who identified it as insect bites), slight runny nose last week and a sore throat which disappeared because of medicine on the day of the encounter (does the sore throat increase risk of HIV?)

Yesterday I suddenly had nose bleed (blood didn't flow out - I think was a combination of hot weather and me clearing my
Nose) and from afternoon till now I have been having this very bad runny nose - I keep sneezing and there's loads of
Mucus. Other than that I don't have enlarged lymph nodes ( Is it obvious to detect?)

But this morning I woke up with a fever of 37.8 degrees celsius (100 fahrenheit?)

Yes so just worried that it might be ARS? Is it possible to only
Show up at this stage? Maybe because of a weaker immune
System or smth?
Thanks!
It cannot be ARS since you never had an exposure. If you continue to maintain that you were at risk then feel free to have another HIV test- it will be negative.
