DON'T BE DISCOURAGED!! There is a good medical reason you found it difficult the first few days to breastfeed. Sometimes milk can take a while to come in properly after a C-section because your body doesn't release the normal hormones that are triggered by a vaginal birth. Don't feel bad about it, it's just how our bodies work. Being close to your baby and letting him suckle best he can and as long as he can should help get things going. There are probably volunteer groups that help new mothers with breastfeeding and you can ring your neonatal section of your hospital to find out. Giving him the odd bottle should be a problem. Think about getting a breast pump so daddy can give him the 'real stuff' too. Good luck with it, be patient, call for help if you need it and congratulations both on your baby and for making the effort to breastfeed. If it doesn't work, DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP over it. There are ranges of formula now that are very good for babies. Just look after yourself so you can look after the new wee one.
