Waking every two hours to eat is perfectly normal for a 1 week old baby and should continue for longer. My son woke every two hours and more until he was 6 months old. There is really no way to explain to a preg. mom how tired you will be once the baby comes. It is going to be the one of the most difficult things you have ever done in your life to get through this period. Make sure you sleep whenever you can during the day. Your tiredness will prob. just get worse. I have found that sleep deprivation has a cumulative effect. It just gets worse and worse.

Sorry I am not one to sugar coat things sometimes. A new baby is hard!!! You will get through it though. And you will be a stronger more confident women after. Life hands us some serious challenges throughout. Getting through these challenges is empowering. Good luck and congrats on your new baby. One day you will look back on this time and be so proud of yourself for making it through.

Make sure you start a routine at night. This will be beneficial for parenting issues to come. ;)

Developing a sleep association early on is beneficial also. I always said shhhhh over and over to DS when trying to get him to sleep. Eventually when he was around 1 year and beyond if he woke, all I would have to do is say shhhh and he would fall over asleep again. It was magic.

Pick up some good parenting books at the library or bookstore to help you out. I like "The Baby Book" by Dr. Sears and a great great one is "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by Dr. Harvey Karp He gives great suggestions for how to sooth a baby to help him sleep.
