Re: CIO questions
Mar 18, 2008
Aden will be 14 months on Saturday. :( He still has nights where he needs mommy for one reason or another. I was actually just telling my sister today that we've been having a rough past week. He's been waking every night, sometimes 3 times, I usually go in to comfort him the first time just to make sure nothing is wrong. If I know there's nothing wrong, other than him just wanting a little company, he cries/talks himself back to sleep. I LOVE rocking him, but I don't want a 5 year old that still needs me to rock him to sleep.

It really does sound like you are doing it right. I think that it takes some babies a little longer to be able to put themselves to sleep. Not that anything is being done wrong, it's just harder sometimes. You're doing a good job though. I do think that sometimes they need to be cuddled and rocked, even if you are trying to teach him to fall asleep on his own.

I hope this is not unwanted advice, but one thing I did notice that might be making it hard is that your son doesn't seem to have a bedtime. CIO might work better if he had a time that you layed him down every night, a little more predictability. Also, he might be overly tired and that's why he cries longer sometimes. Hope that helps.
