Help with bedtime
Jul 1, 2008
My son is 17 months old and he's always been a good sleeper. When he was about 14 months, we switched him to a big bed because he just wasn't sleeping well in his crib anymore. He did awesome with the switch, even on the first night. Well, my problem is he has become quite the stubborn little boy of late. I swear, he's already going through his terrible two's. Anyway, I have a heck of a time getting him to nap or go to bed unless I lay with him and sometimes that doesn't even help. It hasn't been too much of a problem 'cause my husband works 2nd shift so the evening is all about Aden and that is our special time to cuddle. My question is how do I get him to go to sleep when I tell him it's bedtime? Heck, I would be happy if he would just stay in bed when I said it was bedtime. Last night he decided to wake up about 11:30 and stay up 'til 2:30 and just stared at me when I would tell him to go to sleep. VERY frustrating! It's not a matter of just letting him CIO at this point. He doesn't cry, he just won't stay in bed. I'll lay him down and leave the room and within a few minutes I hear his door open. If I don't lay with him 'til he falls asleep than this goes on for hours, while I get more and more frustrated. My husband and I do feel that spanking is ok but spanking seriously does not work for this boy. He is the most stubborn little boy ever! He's going to do what he's going to do and it goesn't matter if he has a red hinny. Please someone give me some advice.
