Re: Weight gain
Jul 13, 2008
Brooke,
I am wondering if your LO had the same problem mine did. She was born at 6 pounds 11 ounces. For the longest time, we couldn't get her to take any more than 4 ounces at a feeding. It was so hard because all of my girlfriends whose babies were born at 7 1/2 pounds were taking more and stretching out their feedings longer. I thought I would never get Ella to take more than 4 ounces at a time. And while I don't remember exactly her weight from month to month (I'd have to look at her baby book) she went through a period of being above average in weight. Now at 12 months she weighs 21 pounds 6 ounces and looks great in my eyes. I think once your LO starts to take more at each feeding, and no you can't force that, you will notice a slow down in the weight. And like the previous posters said, once he starts rolling, crawling and then walking you will notice a HUGE difference. I asked Ella's pedi at one point if she was too big, mainly because my MIL was always making comments about her being fat. He said at that point that she was a "substantial girl" but to be sure that by the time she was 2, she would look nothing like that. Try not to worry too much and don't listen to other people's comments, doctor or not! ;)
