So I know there is another thread about poop problems but I have a question. Has anyone ever had their toddler diagnosed with Dientamoeba Fragilis? My little one had runny poop for the first 6mths as a BF baby, then hurrah, when starting solids they firmed up. When she turned 1yr they became explosive (change of outfit required!!) twice daily not quite diarrhea but very loose. Otherwise very happy baby. At her one yr check up Dr just said as long as there is no blood or mucous, and she's not lethargic or sleepy all the time then not to worry. I put it down to teething as she tends to get a new tooth every couple of weeks and is now on the molars.
After 2months of not one firm poop I took her back to the Dr and they did a stool test and found eggs from this parasite. Medications are contra-indicated for children under 8 so they don't recommend any treatment.

There are lots of sites on the internet about this, but not consistent so I wonder if anyone has heard anything about it and whether they were treated. I'm going to have to look for another babysitter now (mine is going to full time work) and I don't know if a daycare would even take her.

Thanks for any advice you can give.
