Honestly, I don't think there is anything you can do to make your child sleep through the night. My son started to sleep through the night at 4 months. Kept it up until 6 months and then just stopped. At 12 months he was back to waking up every 2 hours like a newborn. Now at 14 months he's hit and miss. Sometimes he makes it through the night and other nights he is up once.

Crying it out is an option. Other people swear by co sleeping. I know there are lots of books out there with different suggestions. You just need to see what works for your child.
we were cosleeping until i was so pregnant i just couldnt take having my wiggle worm dd in bed with us anymore. she was bumping into us and we were all waking up many times in the night.

so we decided to do the ferber method to get her into her crib and to sleep through the night and at nap time. it took a solid 2 weeks for her to finally accept her crib. now she goes into her crib with no problems and we are all sleeping better for it. (actually now we have a 10 day old ds in bed with us ! but only for the first 3 months, i swear it).

dd still wakes up occassionally in the night, some times just for cuddles but she will wake up if she is wet. so maybe about 3 times a week i get up 1 time in the night to change her diaper and then back in the crib and she is good with that.

but i usually let her fuss in her crib for about 5 mins. before i get up. sometimes she is fussing in her sleep to get repositioned or look for her stuffed animal or it's just in her sleep and she really doesnt need anything. so i hang back for 5 mins and see if she can figure it out herself. if not, i go in and help. also, we put on white noise for her and it really helps and a very soft soothing green nightlight glows from her humidifier.

oh, dd was 16 months when we made the big crib/sleep through the night change and we wish we had done it sooner !!

best wishes
