I personally wouldnt force the milk issue, dairy isnt good for kids anyways. My daughter had asthma until she was almost 2, turned out to be a dairy issue and its worse with milk than with yogourt or cheese. I took her off dairy 2 years ago and she has not had an issue since (milk creates mucus and kids immune systems are not fully developed until they are around 7 or 8) dairy causes lots of things in kids most people including alot of drs are not aware of like chest infections, ear infections, asthma, colds, enlarged tonsils and adnoids etc...anyways if he is not taking milk I would just try to make sure he is eating lots of foods with calcium (and it could just be he is striking against anything because he is used to breast milk :) )
