... I just went right to whole milk after 1 year, to see if he would take to it (he had had a couple times of regular-type milk because of no formula), and basically had no problem. So I never bothered mixing much at all; just cold turkey - and in fact, he took to the cold, as well. As for sippies vs. bottles, that was longer, but not much. I found he didn't like the sippies... ... I cannot believe your doc! My son also has allergies (like anhyre) and he is on Similac Alimentum. These are also made for older children (my pediatric gastro said they are OK to use after 1 year). You could research that as well. If you wanted to try Rice Milk, I think that natural food stores have them. I hope she is on some kind of calcium supplement, b/c a baby needs LOTS... (16 replies)

Hi I have a 1 year old who had this problem not so long ago you feel helpless I know, but please dont give him banana's as they will make him more constipated the best thing I can advise that worked for my son is round about when you feel he's going to go get him relaxed take him to the bathroom run him a nice warm bath and give him a bath this softens his muscles and anus....
