The doctor told us to use Karo syrup or prune juice---however---the prune juice we gave him today really made him gassy and he's in pain as I type. I called the doc and was told to feed him 1 oz water mixed with 1/2 tsp of brown sugar (her recommendation was not to use the karo syrup because of possible bochulism - like honey). I did this about 3 times a day and he finally passed the peanuts (what I called the "rocks") and then onto regular bowel movements. I had taken him to his regular first... (10 replies)

My daughter is also 5 1/2 weeks old and we really need to find a formula that doesn't cause constipation.
