Re: IUI success?
Sep 11, 2006
Paula,
One more thing, My re also had me take drugs to stimulate my ovaries to produce more eggs (to increase chance of pregnancy) and also controlled ovulation so they would know exactly when the best time to do the iui would be. I ovulate every month and have very regular cycles but I am 35years old. When you are on the stimulating shots (follistim) you have to go in every few days for blood tests and u/s to keep a close eye on the follicles to make sure you are producing enough but not too many and also to make sure they are maturing. (i had a total of 4 u/s for my first iui cycle) I have never been on clomid, but it kind or seems that the more the doc can control the greater the pregnancy rate would be. The follistim is expensive (my ins. covered the drugs (would have been about 1400.00) but not the u/s(200.00) and I haven't heard yet if they covered the blood work each time(150.00).
