Re: Hi everyone
Oct 18, 2006
Welcome.
I'm not as knowledgeable as some of the ladies on this board - I've just had my 1st IUI (unsuccessful) on Oct. 2. But will get started for my 2nd as soon as AF shows up - hopefully this one will be the charm.

My DH and I have undiagnosed infertility. All of our counts, numbers, hormones, etc. are good and well within any limits. We just can't get pg easily. Of course, even with good ovulations & numbers, my age plays a big part (42). I've had 2 miscarriages (1 unknown pg/1 known pg) in the past 5 years.

My RE had me take 25 mg of Femara. My body reacted well to the drug and I had 4 follicles approx 8 days later. I took a "trigger" shot of HCG to force ovulation and within 36 hrs had my IUI.

To be honest, I hope my RE chooses the same routine again. From what they told me, the Femara leaves your system quickly (I took a single dose), has less side effects than Clomid and less of a chance of multiples (greater than 3). I had absolutely no side effects from the Femara. The HCG shot was a different story. for 2 days I felt like I'd been in a boxing ring, just tired, stiff joints, plum worn out. But, it was merely a discomfort nothing major. However, I think I my be one of the exceptions because most women have no reaction to the HCG shot other than tenderness around injection site.

When will you be starting treatment? I wish you much success.

The best of luck to you and your DH. Stay positive & Keep us updated.

Michelle
