Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 9, 2007
Sue, how are you feeling? How are the embies doing? Its almost time for them to go home :)

Amy thanks for thinking about me, you are so sweet.
I had my appointment yesterday and was a little disappointed. All looks good, no cysts, but my antral count was 8 in total. In usual IUI cycles I would have at least 14. Doc is not concerned, says that we will get more that that, once we begin stimulating and also upped my dosage for Follistim a little.
Will be starting tomorrow to stimulate, does anyone had this happen before, low antral count and get more than that at ER?

Ouch, Menopur hurts. Just needed to let that out.

Amy, thanks for being such a supporting friend. Yes, I'm trying not to stress about my follie count too much, I have yet to hear about my blood work results from Saturday, nurse will call me today, but they should be fine, they always are. I will get another estrogen level test on Thursday but will not know until Saturday how many follies we got, thats when I have my next u/s . I hope will be more than 8, or not too too many.

Ughhh, have 200 of follistim tonight ....:(

Good luck to you and your little baby :) .

Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 10, 2007
Mady, Do not worry one bit about only having 8 follies before stimming. In fact, that sounds like a lot to me. I just looked at my protocol file that I kept during my cancelled IVF cycle and on my CD 3 u/s I had 9 follies to start. You may recall that I ended up with at least 54 follies, and that's why they had to cancel my cycle. So be careful what you wish for. This next time I think I might be happy if I have 8 mature follies at the time of E/R! ;) Okay, maybe I'd prefer something like 18, but it's all about keeing it safe. Well keep us posted on your b/w and u/s results!

Amy, thanks for asking about me. I'm def getting nervous. Thursday is a very big day for me. If the cyst continued to decrease in size I start lurpon this Saturday. If not, it is back to waiting again and you know how dreadful that has been since the last IVF was cancelled. But, I have GREAT news too!!! .......

Well I think I already told you guys that after the OHSS mess back in June/July my RE extended me a 50% credit back on the monitoring fees, which ended up being about $2,500. Well, for this upcoming cycle, my NP is working her magic and making sure that I don't have to pay for drugs this time around!!!! She's already given me 10 vials of repronex! The only down side is that she said she prob can only get me follistim instead of gonal-F, and although I've heard they are basically the same drug, I've heard the follistim burns. But I'll take it considering it could save me $700 - 1,000! So that is my good news. I just hope that cyst has shrunk so we can move on!

Sue, I'm so glad that your embryologists is so thorough and ensured that the 2nd embaby was not left behind in the catheter! My RE told me it is their normal practice to check the catheter after the transfer for that very reason, so I presume it must happen occasionally. Congrats on making it to the 2WW. Can't wait to see a BFP from you on 9/24!

Hi Girls,

Holly I really hope everything works out and you are cycling with Kari and I :)

Amy, these girls are right, its so nice for you to stick around even after your BFP every time I see a post from you it renews my hope.

Kari, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for Thursday, I bet the cyst has shrunk and you will be ready to start your BFP cycle :) I also take repronex, I think I have 20 vials since I didn't respond as well last time my RE is upping my doses. I also take follistim.........I get to mix the repronex together with the follistim so its only one injection. How lucky you are getting those meds free :) You might ask your nurse if you can mix it.

Mady, don't worry the count will go up, it usually does the meds will do there work and make those eggies grow, just remember to drink lots of electrolyte water and eat protein.

Sue, I am so happy you have your two embies back at home, take it easy and hopefully this two weeks will fly by :)

As for me I reluctantly started Lupron this morning, and the stupid tiny needle actually left a bruise :(. I am not as excited about this cycle as my first. I finally feel like myself again and I am so scared of being devastated. This is all such a hormonal rollercoaster, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep my energy up this time, its all so scary. My goal is that this cycle is just part of my life, not all consuming again so wish me luck :) AimeeM

Sue, congrats on making it into the 2ww. So the little one was hard to move, thats good that they did catch him/her hiding. Ha ha, I already imagine you having to drag him/her out of the bed to the school bus each morning. :D

Kari, now you got me worried, I was so upset about the low count at the day 3 and doc upped my meds from 150 to 200 /day, thats Follistim, and have also 75 of Menopur. I hope I dont get OHSS now. I worry so much, you can tell that its my first time. How much meds per day were you taking before you got OHSS?

Holly, I am so happy that you are going to start IVF again.

Amelu, thanks for your advice, I will look into that electrolyte water thing. Never had that, is there a brand name that I can look for at the grocery store? Sorry for that Lupron today, giving you a bruise, I got one too, mine is starting to fade away now.
This morning we started to implement the thigh also, did the Lupron there and it wasnt that bad. Im afraid in doing menopur or others in there, cuz its so much more liquid and Im afraid its not going to stay in. In the belly has enough cushion and is more soft but I'm running out of space. Do you ladies have anymore tips about that?

Ladies anyone here on follistim + repronex? I got my first shot last night and it hurt alot:(

What is in gatorade that helps to avoid hyperstimulation?

Aimee I had the same problem with lupron. My poor hubby...
Have you tried accupuncture? It helped me alot with lupron sidefects.

Kari I wish you good luck with todays u/s appointment. I hope the cyst is gone.

Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
Hey Luba, I just responded to you in Mady's thread, but it sounds like you mix the repronex and follistim in one shot, right? I think Aimee did that on her last cycle cause she recommended the 1-shot approach to me when I told her that I'd be doing follistim and repronex this time around. I know the repronex was bad by itself, but I have not (yet) done follistim. Hope it gets easier for you!

Oh, and as for hydration, I recommend Smartwater (electroyltes) and sodium rich foods, like soup. Sodium and potassium are good sources of electrolytes.
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
I never used repronex, but I did do follistim and menopur (I am guessing the menopur and repronex do about the same thing...). The menopur was my least favorite shot as it burned and left bruises. I had no problems at all w/ the follistim, but I didn't mix my shots together...

Luba, I hope it gets easier for you. Once you start having your regular appts, the time passes quicker.

It's the electrolytes in gatorade that help prevent OHSS. You can also try powerade or any other sport drink.

Good luck!!!

Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
I don't mix follistim and repronex in one shot. Repronex is intramuscular:( and follistim goes into my belly.

When one supposed to feel fullness in your belly from stimulation? I've started my follistim shots on monday in PM so today is day 3(or4) but I don't feel alot of fullness. I'm affraid that stims are not working form me:(

Do you drink it while you stimulate or after retreival?

Luba
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
Oh, those under 20 were Estrogen levels before stimulation started. Went in on CD3 for U/s and Estrogen levels. Now they went to 248 which is good, I mean, you don't want them to get in the thousands or smth crazy like that. That would mean OHSS, its not good.
My next U/s is this Saturday and will have blood work again. From now on will go in every other day.
How much follistim are you doing daily?
Mady
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
I did 450IU on monday and tuesday. Then last night it went down to 300IU but i've added repronex. Tonight i will only have to get 300iu of follistim and then on friday i will get follistim and repronex again.
What is your dosage?
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 13, 2007
Im doing Menopur 75 in the morning and 200 follistim in the evening. Thats what I did each day since Monday.
On my last IUI I was only on 125 of Follistim for 4 days and I felt really bad. My belly got big, gained like 5 pounds in 2 days, and was feeling bad, would cry from nothing, and got a bunch of follies. Thats why I was so afraid now on 200 that it would be too much. But as it looks its just the right dose. Being that we have suppressed with BCP's and lupron, it takes more juice to feed them follies.:D
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Sep 14, 2007
Luba, I was on 200 units of follistim a day, so your dose does look higher than most, but it could very well be the perfect dose for you. And you've said you don't feel any fullness yet, so I think that's a good sign. Let us know how your monitoring appt goes... :)

Mady, I know what you mean. It's scary to let our hopes get up too high when other things haven't worked. But IVF controls a LOT more than IUI, so try to think happy thoughts and let the drs worry about the rest. :D When's your next appt?

Kari, I sent you a note in your thread, but congrats once again on being able to get started. That's fabulous! I was on 20 units of lupron at first, and then I went down to 10 once I started stimming. I'm certain the idea is to keep you suppressed more than last time because you responded so much to the meds. They are gonna get it right this time! :) :)

Aimee, hope the headaches leave you alone soon. Did you go for baseline yet?

Lots of luck to all my sisters doing IVF!!! :D

Luba, that is so great. I will be thinking of you this weekend hoping they get lots of mature eggs.

I am so excited I get to lower my lupron headache tomorrow so I will get rid of these nasty headaches :) My mock transfer was really painful today but at least its over and I start stimming tomorrow. My doses are 225 follistim and 2 vials of repronex which is higher than last time so I hope it does the trick. Thanks Amy, I am glad your little bundle is doing so well :)

Kari--hope you are feeling well and time is flying by. I think you start stimming on Wed?

Baby dust to all. T

I am so excited for everyone, now that I'm caught up on the events of the last day or two!!!! :bouncing:

Luba, how was the trigger shot? Twice during my last cancelled cycle they drew the "target" on my behind in hopes of a trigger and they showed me how to do the injection and all. It didn't look fun. Looked much harder than the trigger I took for my prior IUI's. Guess not having to take that shot was the one silver lining in the whole cancelled cycle thing ;) Well congrats to you on making it to E/R. I am so thrilled for you and can't wait to hear about all those mature follies when you are feeling up to getting on line tomorrow. Hope you have a good night and dream sweet baby dreams

Mady, I just posted in your other thread, but I'm absolutely pumped about hearing your fertilization results! :blob_fire Such great news. I'm feeling it could be a Tuesday transfer for you. Def keep us posted!

Aimee, you started your stims today right? Are you mixing the follistim and repronex or are they separate for you? I had taken repronex in the a.m. and gonal-F in the p.m. But I think you said you got to mix yours and just stick yourself the once! Hope the headaches are already starting to go away now that you've halfed your lupron. Please let us know how you are feeling.

Not much to report on me. My down reg. u/s appt is on Tues. Hope all still looks quiet. Can't imagine it's not quiet in there considering how much lupron I've been injecting each day ;) Of course I'll keep you all posted!

Hi Girls, wow everyone is moving along so quickly before we know it Mady and Luba will be in the 2WW :) letting thier embies snuggle in.

I halfed my lupron this morning, hopefully my headache goes away tomorrow :)
Holly and Kari--thanks for asking about me, I actually start my stims tonight.
I think my RE has you take them in the evening so after morning B/W he can change it if needed. I am taking only 1 injection, I mix the follistim and repronex together, it stings a bit but I can handle it ;) I will probably do it tonight when I get home, no-one except my DH knows we are trying again in our house so I will have to sneak into the bathroom.

Kari--those stims will be here so fast, I am sure your U/S on Tuesday will go perfect and all will be nice and quiet.

Good luck again tomorrow Luba, can't wait to see you post your results.
Have a good night everyone :) AimeeM

Hi Everyone,

My nurse just called and said to lower my dose, so now I am on 150 of follistim and keeping repronex the same. She said my estradiol was on the high side but that was good  except now I am going into the office tomorrow at 9am for an U/S instead of Wed. I will update you guys then. I am keeping my fingers crossed everything is ok.

I am starting to stress a bit, my closest girlfirend is getting married this weekend and we have waited to buy tickets because I wanted to see how my monitoring goes......I was hoping to at least fly out sat. after my appt. and then fly back sunday early since its only to SLC and a quick flight......but now I am worried that plan won't work. I don't know how I will tell my friend I am going to miss her wedding since I missed her shower because of our last IVF cycle. I keep telling myself to stop worrying but I am such a planner that its not working. I just feel like such a horrible friend.......AimeeM

Aimee, that is great news!!! Sounds like your appt went as good as you could have hoped. Nice job on the follicle growth... looking forward to hearing how they do over the next couple days! I'm so glad to hear that you won't have to stress over not going to your friend's wedding. What a relief!!!

My appt also went well. The saw 8 follies on my right, not sure about the left... I heard them say 12 when they looked at my left side but maybe they were saying the total # including what was on the right side ( I sure hope that was the case!!!!) Either way, all was small enough in size to get things started. They just phoned with my E2 results (less than 20, so that's good) and they gave me my dose. The NP said I'm doing FSH only for now. I start tomorrow with 50 of follistim in the am and 150 of gonal-F in the PM. So if it's not FSH, I'm wondering then what is repronex? Does it not also stimulate follicles? That was part of my protocol last time. My next appt is Saturday and they will do an u/s and b/w. I'll keep you posted!

Mady and Luba, now that you've both had your transfers I'm looking forward to hearing about your BFP's!!!!

Aimee, it sounds like your appt went great!! I'm so glad to hear you will be able to make your friend's wedding. You must be so relieved. Thanks for asking about me too. Yes, I get to start my cycle next month. :) I can't wait!!

Kari, sounds like your appt went great today too...I love seeing good news on the boards! I'm not sure about the repronex either. I used follistim and menopur for my last cycle, and I think I will be doing the same this time around. I wonder if anybody else will have any suggestions. I'm sure your dr has a great plan in mind to get you through this cycle and on to your much deserved bfp. Can't wait to follow you through it! :D

Hello ladies:
Aimee,
how did you appointment go today? I hope everything looking good. It's very exiting to wait for your trigger shot and retrieval. It's going to happen very soon for you.

Kari,
I think you supposed to start your stims today. How is it going for you? I hope the shots are not painfull. Follistim and repronex are both stimulate follicles, but I think repronex is something natural. I'm not an expert though:) Keep us posted on your progress.

Holly,
when will your cycle start?

Hi Amy! Thanks for popping in! I feel like things will go so much more smoothly this time around. The doctor and his staff are much more prepared this time for my turbo ovaries and all their egg producing power!!! Hope you and baby girl are well!

Mady, I just posted on your other thread but again wanted to say congrats on transferring two blasts! I think that's my goal this time, but my RE usually does day 3 transfers unless there's an excessive amount of embies to work with. Guess we'll know what I'm looking at in a couple weeks! (Praying we make it to E/R and E/T this time!) So when is your beta?

Luba, I did start stims this morning. Took 50 of follistim and it was very easy. I'll be doing 150 of gonal-F tonite... I already know what that's like so I expect no problems. I did a little on-line research and saw that repronex contains FSH AND LH (leutinizing hormone). Anyone's who has done OPK's should be familiar with LH... it sure rang a bell with me! Well Congrats to you again on your successful transfer! I know at least one of those three little embies will be sticking around your uterus for a very long time!

Aimee, I've started getting the lupron headaches. Woke up with one this morning and have had a couple the last few days. Hoping that decreasing my dose down to 10 today will help out. How are you feeling???
Re: Sept/Oct IVF
Oct 1, 2007
Luba, Aimee, and Mady... thank you guys so much for the reassurance. It really came at the right time, and I feel SO much better hearing that none of you felt any bloating this early in stimming. I really need to forget about last time... it doesn't make sense to compare how I felt then to how I feel now since it ended so disastrously before. It's weird though... I now realize how bad it was last time for me to have felt so very bloated after 3-4 days... yikes! Anyway, I went in for b/w this morning and should have the results in a few hours.

Luba, keep thinking positive my girl. I'm saying prayers for you and your three little ones that are keeping a tight snuggle right now inside of you (hope that doesn't scare you to suggest you could have 3 growing babies right now!!! ;) ). Just a couple days till your beta... looking forward to hearing some good news from you.

Mady, Sorry to hear you have had some trouble sleeping. I hope it's all b/c of the hcg hormone that is starting to build up and pump it's way through your system!

Holly, thanks as always for the encouragement. I look forward to returning the favor when you embark on round 2 in just a few weeks now! Hopefully we'll know your calendar come Thursday. Well I'm definitely feeling better so far today. Hoping to have some positive news to report later. :)

Aimee, Hang on girl... just another day till E/R. I've got my fingers crossed that all the eggies are of great quality and you'll have so many to work with that a Day-5 transfer is a certainty!

OK, literally just got that call from RE, and they said I am to just slightly decrease my dose (evening follistim to go from 175 to 150, still 50 in the morning). NP said my E2 had a very nice jump, but didn't say where it's at and I didn't ask ;) . They'll see me again tomorrow morning for more b/w!
