From the subject of your message, I think you're asking whether you can do IUI without fertility meds, is that right? I don't think most docs would recommend that since IUI WITH fertility meds has, at best, about a 20% chance of success each cycle. It would be unusual to jump to IVF without first trying IUI, unless you have a particular diagnosis that would prevent IUI from working (like blocked tubes). If you do end up trying IVF, the trend is toward fewer multiple pregnancies these days. The technology is improving so docs are able to transfer fewer embryos (I had a friend who transfered ONE and it took, the first cycle), thereby reducing the risk. I had two transferred last month and am now pregnant with one. It's important that you go to the best clinic you can, because I think technique varies widely. Good luck with whatever you doctor recommends!
