Re: November IVF?
Nov 12, 2009
Hi Charmed - My E2 was 95 yesterday - day 6 of stims. 11 very immature follicles. My first IVF and I don't have a clue. She did say the E2 was low/slow. Does that mean they just may delay retrieval? They didn't change dosage.

Good luck to you! Looks like we're a day off.

Hi, CKRB!

A lot can happen in two or even four days! For that reason, I believe that a low or slow start can still end in success. Look around the boards here and elsewhere and you will notice this for yourself: estrogen levels can double or even triple in just a short time once those follicles begin to mature.

Remember, you are on a pretty high dose of stim. to start with. IMO, your doctor might not want to be too reactive for fear of OHSS. Also remember that if you want to speak with your doctor and not his representative, you can always ask for him or her to call you.

It could be that you are just off to a slow start. If you do your own search internet search: stim day ___ (11, 12, 13, etc.) you will be able to find people out there who went almost two weeks and still had successful outcomes.

I did not mean to report those last labs as "day five" but as "day six"...so tomorrow, Friday, will be day eight for me.

Good luck to you, too and keep me posted.

Thanks Charmed -
I went back today for DOS 8 (u/s & b/w) - 9 follicles over 10 cm and 3 below 10. She says I'm responding very slowly but at least I'm responding. Probably two more days of stim (so 12 instead of 10). Ugh - that's about $1000 more! Oh well - I guess that's nothing compared to what all of this is costing. She said my retrieval will probably be delayed to next Thursday or even Friday. She said to be patient. I can be patient with my slow body! :-) Waiting on estrogen level to figure everything else out.

So we are on the exact same schedule as far as stimulation. How did your day 8 appointment go? Can I ask how old you are (just curious)? I am 39.

Keep me posted. It's nice having an IVF cycle buddy!
