Kidney Disorders Board Index

I've had three stones before, the first in '04 and the second two at the same time in '06. I haven't had any yet since then, but right now I'm worried that I may be getting yet another one.

Usually getting the stone means that you have a dull, relentless ache in your side or lower back, depending on which kidney you usually get stones in. All of the ones I've had have been on my right, and right now I'm getting some on and off pain that's not bad by itself, but it disturbs me because it strongly reminds me of the pain that preludes a kidney stone. (Oh, I really, really hope I don't have one right now, because I don't have the time or money for an operation :()

My question is, has anyone else ever had that kind of problem before? More specifically, once you've had a stone before, have you ever had random pain in your lower back where you had the stone? I don't get such pain constantly, but I do get it occasionally, and usually it's relieved by drinking some water. However, the pain almost always feels like I've developed another stone, which is very nerve-wracking. This is also sometimes an issue before I urinate, although I never had either of these problems before I got my first kidney stone. Am I just grasping at straws here, or has someone else experienced something similar? Any thoughts, comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
