Having lasik in the next couple of months -- NERVOUS!

Hi everyone,

I'm a new visitor to this message board. I had my initial consultation with my surgeon and I am going back May 16th to have the "mapping" done. I have to take out my contacts for a couple of weeks before that -- he actually mentioned 3 weeks because my eye allergies have been acting up and I've been using Patanol 2x a day.

My vision is -5.00 in one eye and -4.75 in the other. I know my doctor has done thousands of these surgeries, but I am SO nervous. He said he has to do 1 eye on one day and the other on the next....apparently because my pupils are big....and he wants to see how my night vision is the night of the first surgery.

Are there any things I should know before surgery that I may not have asked before? I know about how the eye goes back at one point, so I am prepared for that. I'm having the actual procedure on a Thursday and Friday -- should I be able to drive to work on Monday? If you've had the surgery, how long did it take for your vision to stabilize?
