Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

Lasik Eye Surgery Board Index

I am 27 years old and from the research I have read this is about the earliest age that is ideal. If you have it much younger you are more at risk for your eyes getting worse because you may not be completely stable in your prescription yet. As you get older it starts to become a concern if you are currently nearsighted that you will need reading glasses sooner or even immediately after surgery if you are in your 40's or older. Also, I have heard that as we age our eyes generally become more dry, so that might also factor in because of lasik possibly exacerbating this.

This is very general info of course and each person is individual so the best way to know if you are a good candidate is to see a lasik surgeon.
I was 40. I did not need correction for up close reading before LASIK, nor do I need it now, 1 year later. I will for sure need it soon though!
