Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

Lasik Eye Surgery Board Index

I had custom wave Lasik on Mar 2nd. I did have some fluctuations for a couple of weeks and felt like there was something in it periodically for a couple weeks. At my one month check-up I was 20/15 in both eyes and I could read 3 out of 5 letters on the 20/10! I am not suffering the dry eye and feeling great.

Everyone is different and after reading this board, I was thinking that everyone had some sort of problems but I just wanted to share my very positive experience.
Thank you very much for your posting. I am getting it done next Thursday and hve been reading these posts and getting very nervous. I know that everyone is diffrent but all I could see were the negatives and it scared me. I am glas your went well. I wasnt sure if I should go ahead or not. Most people told me do it. After reading yours I am sure I will and hope mine is a possitive story as well. I was wondering how long recovery takes. I need to take a few days off but wasnt really sure how many I need to ask for in advance. Thanks for your help. Keep me posted.:)

HI Smarty327, I had lasik 6 months ago and I see better than 20/20 in both eyes and I think it's one of the best things I've spent my money on! It's soooo nice not to have to deal with glasses or contacts. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! I took two days off from work after the surgery and that was enough. I did have trouble seeing the computer for the first week or two after surgery but that's normal. I had dry eyes for about 3 or 4 months, but can now go all day without drops. The only time my eyes bother me really is when I'm very tired, or after staring at the computer or reading a book for a long period of time, and then a drop in each eye usually makes them feel better. Good luck with your surgery and let us know how it goes!
Dear Smarty
I had mine done in 1998 and Im glad I did. If you read the post for your eyes only you will see my experience after lazik.Lazik didn't cause my problems.Everything was going that way before. vince
Thank You VERY MUCH for your reply. I go in thursday and am feeling alot better about it. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again and how are you doing today.
Dear Smarty, I have been checking out the boards since my surgery on April 23 because I am a little impatient with the slow recovery. I came across your post and wondered how it was going for you?
I had mine done on May 10 (a week ago today) and I still am having some blurry vision. It clears up and then gets blurry. It comes and goes. I go in for my check up on monday. The doctor said I had adhesions on my eyes and I wore contact lenses for 24 hours. He said my recovery time may be slower. I have never hear of this. How are you doing today. My eyesight went from 20/400 to 20/20. I see the halos at night but I am not much of a night driver to let them bother me. I just want them to clear up and stay that way. I keep putting in drops. Let me know how you are doing.
Dear Smarty - so glad to hear you went thru with it. My only regret, even tho my healing is slow, is that I didn't do it sooner. I was so afraid, now I just tell everyone to research and go for it. Did you actually do lasik or did you have PRK? Cause I saw some people at the doc's office that had PRK and they had to wear contact lenses to help in the healing process. With PRK you actually don't get a flap you just have a laser reshape the cornea. I hear with PRK the healing process is longer, but in the long run you get better vision. I read that in a consumer reports article, now a little part of me wishes I had done PRK, then I would have even had some time off from work as well! Today is a great day. No headaches, no sparkles, but still one eye is 20/40 - but am totally grateful that the other eye is still 20/20. Wouldn't change it for the world. Had glasses since I was 8 and contacts since I was 15 - my brain still hasn't adjusted to the change - I keep thinking I have my contacts in!
Hi Dsquared63,
Just wanted to let you know how things were going. I went in yesterday for my check up (its been 10 days). I told him things were still blurry at times. He said I had fluid behind the flap and around the area that was cut. He said that since I had adhesions on my eyes that it would be a longer recovery time. He said he promises that before to long I will be seeing great. He said the sharpness will get better after the fluid dries up. He told me to get some eye gel called mura he said it is really thick and it will absord the extra fluid. He said you put it in your eyes at night and the next morning you will be amazed. I havent got it yet but will tonight. I will let you know how it goes. Other than that my vision was a blurry 20/20. I fell better knowing the this will pass. I appreciate your thought and let me know how you are doing today. Have a great day!!!
