"Film" post-lasik
May 7, 2008

I am actually writing in regard to my husband's lasik recovery. He had lasik two weeks ago. The vision in his left eye is 20/15; his right eye is 20/25. The problem is that ever since the surgery he complains that he is experiencing a "film" in his right eye. At times he believes that film is subsiding ever so slightly. I can only assume that this is not unusual, given that recovery can easily take up to 3 - 6 months. Has anyone experienced this? He is using the steroid and lubricating drops 2x daily. At his 2 week check up yesterday the doctor did not think his eyes were dry but also didn't really give him any opinions about the film. I don't want him to be discouraged but my "be patient, recovery is different for everyone" isn't really working. Thanks in advance for your remarks.

I saw my surgeon on Thursday and he said my eyes looked good - healed well but still slightly swollen. He also said they didn't look very dry and gave me some different drops to use only 4 times a day instead of the Refresh ones that I was using quite alot throughout the day. The film has appeared to be slightly less obvious since then.

My vision is 20/16 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye so I'm happy!

How is your husband doing?
