Most people I know who have had LASIK or PRK are very happy with the results. I am also aware of a few very bad outcomes. If I were having laser vision correction, I'd see the best doctor in my area (probably at a major medical center) regardless of the cost. And I wouldn't have the procedure unless I were an excellent candidate.
