Regression due to aging

I have +2.5 prescription and thinking of lasik procedure. (age: 43)

I have been told that the long vision will correct over a period of time since it will be slightly over corrected. Let us assume the new numbers are -0.5 for long distance and +1.5 for near vision. After a few months or years the long vision will be perfect while near vision will be +2.0

Is this explanation correct?
